I’m moving to Seattle in a month and am finally going to be able to ice climb on a semi-regular basis. I’m stoked but also a little anxious because ice climbing is my weakest area as far as experience goes. Perusing the ‘net I found this nifty video of Petzl doing field tests [...] I’m planning on making a trip to Ship Rock next weekend to climb the classic moderates Boardwalk (5.8) and Hindu Kush (5.8). I wanted to see if youtube had anything on the two routes before I went but came up empty. All was not lost though because I did find this awesome video of Castaway [...] I have a Suunto heart rate monitor that I use to train. Unfortunately it does not make me a badass like Ueli Steck when he speed climbed Eiger, Grandes Jorasses and Matterhorn. Thanks to Andy Kirkpatrick for sharing sharing the video. I thought it appropriate to pimp the video that shares my blog’s name. Unfortunately I have no relationship to the film but I thought it was cool. It really makes me want to get out there and climb. Patagonia is awesome. This is old news but I found this video of the first free ascent of Cobra Crack, 5.14. Skip to minute three to get to the climbing. It is absolutely sick. If you have ever wanted to see what 5.12c offwidth climbing was then here is a great video of a Kris “odub” Hampton playing on Hidden Dragon in Red River Gorge. The line starts with an offwidth roof that you have to pull some sick moves to get up over. I have no idea why [...] On my last post I felt bad that I couldn’t give a good description of the Fisher Chimney route on Mt Shuksan so I went searching for a bit and found this awesome video. Congrats to them for summitting. I hate the feeling when you are pumped out, run out and then when you try to sink some gear it doesn’t fit. As I was watching this video of Katie Brown climbing I got ansy in my chair re-living my own moments just like her’s. Check it out. Alpinist 24 came in the mail the other day. The first thing I did was flip through every page, drooling over the amazing pictures. Then, using all my self control, I set it down. I need to ration my daily intake of Alpinist. All I want to do is read it cover to cover on [...] I just went climbing at Looking Glass last weekend which is probably the most famous climbing place in North Carolina. I got my sorry as up Second Coming, Rat’s Ass and Zodiac which are all in the 5.8 range but they are ‘old school’ 5.8s in the words of a 55 year old I was [...] |
