Off Topic - Learning to Snowboard

What is the point of having a blog if you can’t solicit advice every now and again?

I just got hooked on snowboarding and am looking for a decent beginner snowboard, bindings, boots combo.

What I am looking at right now is:

I know I have a Burton-centric view but their LTR board really helped me.  I’d appreciate any thought you many have on this setup.

Learning to snowboard will only torment you in your mountaineering endeavors. The snowboard is a great decent tool, its fun, handles variable snow conditions better than any other tool and naturally exploits terrain features :) But you will be torn between the much better ascending and since the ascent takes much longer than the decent, all mountain ability of the AT setup. I personally believe telemark has no argument over modern AT gear and technique. Finally, if you take up snow riding of any sort you will inevitably ask the question, “which route has the best descent.”
OK, off the rant. If you are naturally athletic an intermediate to advanced board will help the most. Snowboarding has a steep learning curve.
