About Jon

So I guess I should introduce myself. Hi, my name is Jon and I am a junkie. A climbing junkie to be specific but a junkie none the less.

I enjoy sharing my climbing adventures and I hope you enjoy reading about them. I've put a lot of blood and sweat into getting the photos and stories for this blog and as a result they are the sole property of OnTheSharpEnd.com AKA me but I'm a rather chill guy and if you drop me a line I'm sure we can work something out.

Climb safe.

I've been a little slow with the postings. I definitely haven't given up climbing but time is scarce when you're in grad school.

  5. hey, did you feel that Taku pants were an overkill or just right? I’ll be heading out in the end of August, was wondering if my winter softshells would be an overkill. No shovel or ice screws?

  6. For me the Taku pants were just right. I had a base layer on underneath and on the hike to Muir they were zippered open for ventilation. On summit day they kept me warm and dry even in 90+mph winds. If you’re softshells block the wind pretty well then I’d wear them. My buddy had on a Patagonia softshell with a microfleece lining and overheated. Just FYI.

We both had one ice screw when we went up but a shovel was unnecessary because we stayed in the hut at Camp Muir.

    Good luck.
